Would-be Assassin Might Be Set Free?

A would-be assassin took aim and fired at President Ronald Reagan back in 1981. Reagan was shot and immediately taken to the hospital to go under surgery.

The president survived the ordeal of course and made a quick and full recovery. John Hinckley Jr. was tackled and arrested by secret service agents right after the gunshots were fired.

He was found not guilty for attempted murder on grounds of insanity and for 30 years, he has been in incarcerated in a mental facility until recently.  The would-be assassin is in the position to be released early on the recommendation of his psychologist.

"Hinckley, has reovered to the point that he poses no imminent risk of danger to himself or others," testifies a psychologist at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington. However, not everyone agrees with the doctor's evaluation. Former U.S. Attorney Joseph Digenova who prosecuted Hinckley for the assassination attempt told CNN, "I think Hinckley will be a threat for the rest of his life. He is a time bomb."

Do you think anybody who has attempted to assassinate a government or state official should be given the opportunity to be released to the public again?
