Obese Kids Might Be Taken Into Foster Care?

Researchers from Harvard University say parents who have overweight children should be taken into foster care. They say their reasoning behind the suggestion is because inadequate or unskilled parents make their kids vulnerable to societal influences that promote an unhealthy lifestyle and are suggesting it might be a form of child abuse.

According to CNN, professor Lindsey Murtagh and Dr. David S. Ludwig suggest 'severely obese children be removed from their homes, and that government involvement may be justifiable because of the imminent health risks and parents chronic failure to address medical problems'.

According to the Centers for Disease and Prevention, the obesity rate has gone up dramatically over the past 20 years in the United States. It also says about 17% of kids in the U.S are considered obese. Serious health problems like type 2 diabetes, colon cancer, coronary heart disease and mental health disorders.

The U.S. Surgeon General says its important to change family's physical activity and eating habits, instead of making the child feel different.
