KFBK - Thousands of people have been trying to enroll in Covered California and today is the last day to sign up if you want coverage to start January 1st.
Most likely there will be issues signing up online today due to the expected rise of enrollments. Preliminary numbers so far say 400,000 Californians have signed up for insurance under Covered California. That includes 77,000 who signed up between just this past weekend.
Executive Director for Covered California Peter Lee says that if you are experiencing issues and can't sign up by today, there is a grace period, so long as you did try.
"If someone's stuck for any reason, take a breath, call the line, the wait may be 30 minutes or more, if that person is stuck though and really can't get through the system. Call tomorrow, we're gonna get them through, we'll get them over the line," Lee said.
If you've chosen your insurance plan through Covered California you have until January 6th to pay your premium.
