High Speed Chase Results in Two Arrests – One Suspect Still at Large

Two burglary suspects are in custody and a third is still at large after leading Chino Police Officers on a high speed chase that started in Hacienda Heights and ended in East Los Angeles earlier this morning.

Chino Detectives and members of the Special Enforcement Team were following suspects wanted for questioning in regards to five residential burglaries, which took place in Chino on Monday, March 31.  Through the investigative process, Detectives obtained a license plate number for the car the suspects were driving during the Chino incidents.

The vehicle and occupants were under Chino Police surveillance this morning, when the three occupants of the 2013 gray Nissan Altima burglarized a residence near Cedarlane Middle School in Hacienda Heights.  Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which resulted in a high speed pursuit topping out at speeds of 80 miles per hour before the suspects pulled over and fled the vehicle at San Pedro Street and Pico Boulevard.  Chino Officers were joined by Officers of the Los Angeles Police Department who quickly surrounded the area.

Chino and LAPD Officers arrested one of the suspects immediately; a second barricaded himself in a business before surrendering to Officers of the LAPD, a third suspect is still at large.  It is unknown if all three individuals involved in today’s activities are the same three suspects wanted for the Chino burglaries; the investigation is ongoing.  Detectives recovered several weapons from the suspect vehicle including two shotguns, an assault rifle, an M1 riffle, and at least one handgun.  Arrested were Marcus Nelson, and Larry Laniel, both 22 years old and from Los Angeles.  Both will be booked at the West Valley Detention Center for burglary, felony evading, and for felon in possession of firearms.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to contact the Chino Police department at 909-628-1234.
