An argument between two roommates in Citrus Heights almost turned deadly.
A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot inside his home apparently by his roommate.
Citrus Heights police say just after 9 p.m. Sunday, in the 600 block of Chapel View Drive -- the man's roommate, 57-year-old Russel Fechter shot the victim, then called 911.
"The shooting stems from a verbal altercation, that turned violent and ended up resulting in a shooting," Chad Morris with the Citrus Heights Police Department said.
Morris says when officers got to the scene, they found the victim conscious and still breathing. He was taken to an area hospital, underwent surgery and is expected to survive.
Morris says Fechter admitted to shooting his roommate and was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
