Sacramento County Hopes to Hire Four Park Rangers

Regional Parks is looking to hire more Park Rangers -- four to be exact.

These rangers cover 15,000 acres of Sacramento County -- including the American River Biking Trail -- making sure nature and man are co-operating. They're full-fledged police-officers that go through an academy and need at least two years of college or 60 units.

The regional parks lost quite a few rangers during a budget downturn a while back, but Chief Park Ranger Stan Lumsden says the board of supervisors found some extra cash -- and that's a good thing.

"We're hoping that these four rangers will augment our force to the point where things will get better and safer," Lumsden said.

Lumsden says its just the first batch of hiring they're doing. The last day to apply is January 3rd.
