CCSA Wants To Revoke West Sac Early Prep's Charter

West Sacramento Early Prep School is not meeting the minimal academic measures and now the California Charter Schools Association wants their public funding revoked. The charter school is one of six in California with low performance issues according to the California Charter Schools Association or CCSA for short.

President of CCSA Jed Wallace said they've asked the charter school for alternative data that shows improvement but that they didn't provide any,

"West Sacramento, this year, chose not to provide any information whatsoever and two years ago attempted to provide information but was not information that we ultimately found to be enough to support their renewal," Wallace said.

The President of the board for West Sacramento Early Prep School, Harold Levine, says their students are actually succeeding.

"I think it's very likely that there's been a misalignment between what we ask our students to learn and the way we ask them to think that were not measured by the CST's," opined Levine.

The "CST's" referred to are the California Standards Tests.  The association has no power to revoke the charter itself, so it's asking the district and board of education to discontinue the programs.
