KFBK - The Salvation Army says their Red Kettle Campaign donations are projected to be down 21 percent this year compared with last year.
The Red Kettle Campaign usually starts the day after Thanksgiving on Black Friday but because of a late Thanksgiving date this year, the Salvation Army says it has lost 5 to 6 days of donating time.
"In Sacramento last year we raised $217,000 and about $185,000 in Roseville and some more in Auburn. If we look at just those three communities we are projected to bring in $60,000 less than last year," Major Bill Dickenson with the Salvation Army said.
Dickenson says those donations help supply food, clothes and toys to kids during the holidays. He asks that if you can, toss in an extra buck or two when you see the Red Kettle around town.
