Yellow Ribbons Put Up for Veterans Being Vandalized

KFBK - A nonprofit organization that brings veteran awareness ties yellow ribbons along roads during the holidays, however, recently someone has been vandalizing them

For the past six years, volunteers for The Honor Group has gone out and tied yellow ribbons on a five mile stretch on Douglas Boulevard -- from Sierra College to Auburn Folsom. But for two years in a row, someone has been going down the street and tearing them down.

Founder of The Honor Group -- Mark Soto says they're not sure why someone would do this.

"Whether you believe in our military or not, don't show your belief in this way. There's other ways of doing it," Soto said.

Soto says even though it hurts -- this wont deter The Honor Group.

"But we're putting them back up, darn it! And we're going to put these back up through the holidays. And when our military men and women are coming up that road, we want them to know we're thinking of them and love them," he said.

Volunteers are meeting up again this Saturday to put the ribbons back up.
If you want to go and help out:

The group is meeting at 8 a.m. on Dec. 21.
