Auburn police were called out to a fast-food restaurant Saturday night because two women were allegedly doing drugs in the restroom.
Police were called to the In-N-Out on Grass Valley Highway in Auburn just before midnight. "When officers arrived they contacted a Whitney Ross and a Danielle Vaughn and they were in the process of injecting heroin," Sgt. Rick Hardesty with the Auburn Police Department said. Ross and Vaughn were booked into the Placer County Jail and charged with various crimes including possession of a controlled substance and being in possession of medication without a prescription.

Sgt. Hardesty says Auburn has seen a rise in heroin use. "It's interesting, you know, to see the transition of one drug to the next, but heroin seems to be the new choice of drug," he said.
